AutoSolo Championship

The CMSGCC are pleased to announce a new AutoSolo Championship for 2008.

The Championship will consist of a maximum number of 10 rounds during the year (all will be run to Clubsport status), each one organised by the CMSGCC in conjunction with one CMSG Member Club.  The Championship will be run in the true spirit of AutoSolo; i.e. competing cars will be those that are used and driven on public roads.

Venue - only sealed surface venues will be permitted and each event should comply in principle with the MSA Regulations as laid out in the 2008 Blue Book under Section D (in particular D4 and D45).

Championship Classes - the Championship will be class-based to allow consistent performance in any class an equal chance of winning the Championship overall.  Classes are:-
A:    Historic - any car registered or manufactured before 1st January 1980
B:    Other saloons/hatchbacks/estates/4 seat coupes and convertibles up to 1400cc
C:    Other saloons/hatchbacks/estates/4 seat coupes and convertibles 1401cc - 2000cc
D:    Other saloons/hatchbacks/estates/4 seat coupes and convertibles over 2000cc
E:    Production 2 seat sports cars (fixed or open roof)
F:    Specialist sports cars, kit cars suitable for road use and other cars ineligible for classes A to E
All cars must be currently registered for road use (no trade plates) with insurance and MOT (where applicable) and driven to the event.  Documents must be available for inspection at every event.  Failure to comply will result in exclusion from the event.
Cars eligible for Class A will run in that class rather than the corresponding B to E class.
Diesel cars, with or without forced induction, will run in the class corresponding to their engine capacity.
Petrol engined cars with forced induction in Class B or C will move up one capacity class.
Rotary engined cars will be classed twice its normal capacity.
The Coordinator's decision on the most appropriate championship class for any car is final.

Organisers - it is recommended that organisers use these classes for their individual events but it is not compulsory, as the Coordinator can extract the championship results from the official results from each event and a complete entry list/full results should be sent to the Championship Coordinator within 10 days of each round.  Space on entry forms should also be provided for a competitors CMSGCC membership number.  An events principal officials (secretary & clerk of the course) of each qualifying round shall be CMSGCC members.

Vehicle Eligibility - in all classes a car must retain the original body profile above the hub centreline, apart from accessories such as spoilers.  Cars not conforming to this requirement or one-off specials, kit cars of an 'off-road' nature, are not eligible for the AutoSolo Championship.  Suspension and transmission may be modified within their original configuration whilst tyres marked 'for competition use only', manufactured without a full tread pattern or in an unroadworthy condition may not be used.
In classes A to E, cars must retain the original panel and window materials although additional panels such as wheel arch extensions are permitted.  Cars in these classes must have full trim and seats, although trim may be changed.  Also in classes A to E, the engine must be of original manufacture and original basic type and must be fitted in the original position.  The engine may be modified and may be of a different capacity provided that the car is entered in the class corresponding to its actual capacity.
Cars not meeting these requirements are eligible for Class F only.

The Championship Coordinator reserves the right to disallow cars to qualify for the Championship that do not comply with the spirit of AutoSolo.

Competitor/Marshal - it is a requirement of all event organisers to ensure that all entrants carry out the full requirement for AutoSolo - ALL competitors must marshal on every event in which they compete.

Rounds/Scoring - the maximum number of events a Championship contender may enter is the total number of events that run in the Championship less one.  There will be a maximum of 10 events in the Championship and the following formula for scores to count will be used:-

8 Rounds              Best 5 scores to count
7 Rounds              Best 4 scores to count
