AutoSolo Championship
in association with B.P. Motor Bodybuilders & Engineers

The CMSGCC in conjunction with the Member Clubs of the CMSG will promote an AutoSolo Championship in 2010.  The Championship will consist of a maximum number of 10 rounds during the year, each of which will be run to 'Clubsport' status and in the true spirit of AutoSolo; i.e. competing cars will be those that are used and driven on public roads.

Only sealed surface venues will be permitted and each event should comply in principle with the MSA Regulations as laid out in the 2010 Blue Book under Section M (in particular M.2(a) and M.19-M19.6).

The Championship will be class-based to allow consistent performance in any class an equal chance of winning the Championship overall.  Classes are:-
A:    Series Production Cars - Saloons up to 1400cc
B:    Series Production Cars - Saloons 1401cc - 2000cc
C:    Series Production Cars - Saloons over 2000cc
D:    Series Production Sports Cars - including Lotus Elise & Vauxhall VX220
E:    Specialist Production Cars ineligible for Classes A - D (Caterham, Westfield et cetera))

All cars must be currently registered for road use (no trade plates) with insurance and MOT (where applicable) and driven to the event.  Documents must be available for inspection at every event.  Failure to comply will result in exclusion from the event.

Diesel cars, with or without forced induction, will run in the class corresponding to their engine capacity.
Petrol engined cars with forced induction in Class B or C will move up one capacity class.
Rotary engined cars will be classed at 1.5 times its normal capacity.
The Coordinator's decision on the most appropriate championship class for any car is final.

The Championship Coordinator will provide a list of registered contenders at least six weeks prior to the date of each Championship event and the regulations must be distributed to all contenders at least four weeks before the event.  A copy of the full entry list and official results must me set to the Coordinator no later than 14 days after the event.

In all classes a car must retain the original body profile above the hub centreline, apart from accessories such as spoilers.  Cars not conforming to this requirement or one-off specials, kit cars of an 'off-road' nature, are not eligible for the AutoSolo Championship.  Suspension and transmission may be modified within their original configuration.  Tyres from the MSA 'List 1B' will not be eligible for AutoSolo events - tyres marked 'for competition use only' manufactured without a full tread pattern, or in an un-roadworthy condition will not be acceptable.
In classes A to D, cars must retain the original panel and window materials although additional panels such as wheel arch extensions are permitted.  Cars in these classes must have full trim and seats, although trim may be changed.  Also in classes A to D, the engine must be of original manufacture and original basic type and must be fitted in the original position.  The engine may be modified and may be of a different capacity provided that the car is entered in the class corresponding to its actual capacity.
Cars not meeting these requirements are eligible for Class E only.

The Championship Coordinator reserves the right to disallow cars to qualify for the Championship that do not comply with the spirit of AutoSolo.

It is a requirement of all event organisers to ensure that all competitors marshal on every Championship event in which they compete.

There will be a maximum of TEN events in the Championship with a competitors best EIGHT scores to count.  In the event of there being less than 10 rounds, the following formula for scores to count will be used:-

9 Rounds              Best 7 scores to count
8 Rounds              Best 6 scores to count
7 Rounds              Best 5 scores to count
6 Rounds or less   Best 4 scores to count

Championship points will be awarded for class performance only and will be based on official event results - if best registered contender is placed 3rd in class, they will gain the points for 3rd in class, not 1st registered contender.  Points are:-

1st in Class    10 points    2nd in Class    8 points    3rd in Class    6 points
4th in Class    4 points     5th in Class    3 points    6th in Class     2 points
All other finishers    1 point

A competitor may enter a different class on any event, however their scores will be recorded separately after each round entered, but will be amalgamated at the end of the year for the final overall results.

Organisers points will be awarded to a Championship competitor who organises a round of the Championship, either as Clerk of Course or Secretary of Meeting.  They will be awarded 8 points, equivalent to 2nd in class.  A competitor can only make one such claim.

In the event of a tie in the Overall Championship, the overall award will be awarded to the competitor with the greatest number of event class wins in all events entered.  If a tie still results, the greatest number of 2nd in Class, 3rd in Class et cetera  will decide the overall award.

Championship awards will be presented at the end of the year to:-
1st Overall
1st in each Class
2nd in each Class - subject to a minimum of 5 registered class contenders
3rd in each Class - subject to a minimum of 7 registered class contenders
Best Lady - subject to a minimum of 3 registered female contenders
Young Driver Award - presented to the highest placed driver overall under the age of 19 years old on 1st January 2010.

With the exception of the Best Lady and Young Driver Awards, no competitor may win more than one award.  Competitors who compete in less than THREE rounds will not qualify for any awards either.  Any perpetual trophy will remain the property of the CMSGCC and will be returned to the Coordinator or any CMSGCC officer on demand at the expense of the holder.  Competitors are responsible for keeping these awards in good and safe condition.

Each contender registering for the Championship shall do so for a fee of £5 and registrations will be accepted until 30th June 2010 - scores will only count from date of registration.

All Championship communications/correspondence/enquiries should be directed to the Championship Coordinator, Tim Walton.
